I began creating my own face oil almost eight years ago, driven by a desire to take control of what I was putting on my skin. Over the years, I experimented with different ingredients, learning what worked best for my skin type. It wasn’t until recently, however, that I felt confident enough to share my experiences and products with others. Taking that leap has been both exciting and rewarding, as I’m now able to offer something I truly believe in, and I’m thrilled to connect with others who value natural, handmade skincare.
I faithfully use my products every day and honestly wouldn’t use anything else! Each product feels like a treat for my skin, and I love knowing exactly what goes into them. My favorites include the body wash, face spritz, and lip balm—they’ve become essential parts of my daily routine. But my absolute favorite has to be the face oil. It’s the ultimate indulgence and does wonders for my skin. I can't imagine going without it!
That’s a fantastic question and definitely one of my favorites! Since NONE of my products contain harmful additives, their shelf life isn’t like what you would typically find in store-bought items. To help extend their longevity, I add Sunflower Lecithin, which naturally helps preserve the products. But most importantly, all of my products are "Made-To-Order"! This ensures that you’re always getting the freshest possible products, with a guarantee of quality and effectiveness every time!
This is a lengthy and slow process, but it’s worth every bit of time and care. All of my beef tallow is rendered in-house, taking anywhere from three to five days. I take the time to ensure each batch is processed with attention to detail, so the quality is always top-notch and as fresh as possible. It’s a labor of love, but I believe in delivering only the best.
I do both, but separately, because there’s a lot of information and learning involved in each process. I’ll break it down for you to give a clearer idea of which route might be best.
Dry Rendering
Process: Heat is applied directly to the fat without adding water or salt:
Advantages:
Faster process. May result in a higher-quality, more nutrient-rich product. Longer shelf life due to the absence of water, reducing the risk of microbial growth and spoilage.
Disadvantages:
May not separate impurities as effectively as wet rendering. Can yield slightly less tallow compared to wet rendering.
Wet Rendering
Process: Fat is heated in water, often with added salt, which helps to draw out impurities.
Advantages:
Can produce a purer, whiter, and odorless tallow. May extract more fat from the connective tissues.
Disadvantages:
Slower process. The added water can increase the risk of microbial growth and spoilage, shortening the shelf life.
Some argue that the process can alter beneficial fatty acids, reducing the nutritional value of the tallow.
Both methods have their merits, but choosing the right one depends on your priorities—whether you're looking for speed, purity, or a richer nutritional profile.
Another fantastic question! As a mother, I’ve always believed that I would never give my child anything that I wouldn’t take or eat myself. That same philosophy applies when creating my products. I promise you, I hold the same high standards for quality and safety in everything I make, ensuring that each ingredient is something I would happily use myself or give to my loved ones. I am deeply compassionate, and I constantly care about the needs of everyone. Each product is made with that same sense of care, with the goal of providing something that nurtures and supports you, just as I would for my own family. I also make it a point to help someone every day in some way, whether through my products, advice, or simply offering a kind word. It’s part of who I am, and I’m grateful to be able to share that with you.
Good question!! I do not use artificial dyes or colorants. Instead, I prefer to use natural ingredients like beetroot, green tea, moringa powder, activated charcoal, and bentonite clay for their rich, vibrant colors and benefits. I’ll also be introducing even more natural options, like turmeric, saffron, cocoa powder, and many others! These ingredients not only give beautiful color but also offer nourishing properties for your skin. I believe in keeping things as pure and natural as possible, so you can feel good about what you’re using.
Absolutely, they are! My go-to essential oils are Frankincense, Rosemary, Tea Tree, and Eucalyptus, as these have been trusted and used for years for their amazing properties. However, when introducing new oils, there are four important things to keep in mind:
1. Dilution is key – Essential oils are powerful, so always dilute them appropriately before use.
2. Always "Patch Test" – Test a small amount on your skin to ensure you don’t have any sensitivities or reactions.
3. Quality always matters – The quality of essential oils is crucial, and I cannot stress this enough. Always choose pure, high-quality oils to ensure effectiveness and safety.
4. Always be mindful of sensitivities – Everyone's skin is different, so it's important to be aware of any potential sensitivities, especially when trying new oils.
By following these guidelines, you can safely enjoy the many benefits of essential oils!
I have to chuckle every time I'm asked that question, and believe me, I get asked a lot! I truly believe in the saying, "You push the horses that can work." I work hard, every single day! I’ve always been the “go, go, go” person—non-stop, no matter what time of day it is. Even when my body says to stop, my mind always takes over and keeps pushing me forward. One day, I know I’ll have to slow down—but just a little! For now, I’m driven by my passion and dedication to what I do.
I love this question, as it covers various stages of life: Puberty (8-12 years of age), Adolescents (12+), Vicenarians (early 20s), and Tricenarians (30s and beyond)! Generally, there’s no set age to start a skincare routine, but every individual has different skin types and habits, which can influence when and how to begin.
1. Prepubescence (8-12 years of age): At this age, children are typically outside playing, getting dirty, and enjoying life as kids do! If you choose to start a skincare routine at this stage, I recommend a gentle cleansing and hydration routine to help address dirt, grime, and the potential for acne, which can start to appear around this age.
2. Adolescents (12+ years of age): Nowadays, many adolescents are experimenting with cosmetics, which unfortunately often contain harmful, pore-clogging ingredients. At this stage, they should focus on gentle cleansing and moisturizing products, while considering oil-free options if acne is a concern.
3. Vicenarians (early 20s): In your 20s, you can start incorporating more targeted products like Vitamin E and C, as well as exfoliants, depending on your skin type and concerns. This is a great time to establish good habits and prevent future skin issues.
4. Tricenarians (30s +): As you enter your 30s and beyond, it's important to maintain a consistent routine with age-appropriate products, focusing on hydration, protection, and addressing specific concerns like wrinkles, fine lines, or dryness.
No matter your age, a thoughtful skincare routine can help keep your skin healthy and glowing at every stage of life!
Absolutely! I strongly recommend my products for these reasons. Homemade skincare can be incredibly kid-friendly, especially when focusing on natural, gentle ingredients and avoiding harsh chemicals. However, it’s essential to prioritize safety and choose ingredients that are appropriate for children's delicate skin.
Here's a breakdown of why and how:
Benefits of Natural Ingredients:
Gentle on Skin: Children’s skin is thinner and more sensitive than adults’, making it more prone to irritation. Natural ingredients like shea butter, coconut oil, and calendula are known for their soothing and moisturizing properties, making them ideal for children's skin.
Reduced Chemical Exposure: Many commercially available products contain chemicals that can be harmful or irritating to children's skin. Homemade options allow you to control the ingredients, ensuring you're avoiding unnecessary additives and providing a more natural, safer alternative.
Cost-Effective: Making your own skincare products can be a budget-friendly way to ensure your children have access to safe, effective, and high-quality products that you can trust.
By using natural ingredients, you can create a gentle, nurturing skincare routine for your child, giving you peace of mind while caring for their sensitive skin.
When developing my business and crafting my products, one key concern I had to consider was the rising number of individuals experiencing allergic reactions to certain ingredients or products. Over the last decade, this issue has become more prominent, and it was important to address it from the outset. With this in mind, I’ve made it a priority to offer alternatives or substitutions for certain ingredients when possible. However, depending on the product, these substitutions may not always be feasible due to the complex combinations of ingredients. I believe it's always better to ask questions and address concerns upfront, rather than proceeding without full consideration. After all, the health and safety of my customers come first!
